Oxygen Concentrators (also known as oxygen generators) are medical devices that are used to provide oxygen to individuals who require it. A person who may need to use an oxygen concentrator is someone who has low levels of oxygen in their blood. Most Oxygen concentrators provide either a 5 LPM (liters per minute) oxygen flow rate or 10 LPM. Oxygen Concentrators take in air from the surrounding and remove nitrogen to provide concentrated oxygen. You can power your oxygen concentrator by simply plugging it into an electrical outlet, or with a battery. If you have a Portable Oxygen Concentrator, you can recharge your battery for it by plugging it into an electrical outlet.

An oxygen concentrator can only be purchased with a prescription from your doctor or physician.

Another important factor in choosing an oxygen concentrator is the amount of noise they make. Check the specifications of the oxygen concentrator for "sound level" when comparing different machines. You might consider getting a long cannula to place the machine further from the person.
