What is a Standard Wheelchair?
The Standard Wheelchair is a type of Manual Wheelchair that is characterized by a cross-brace frame, which allows the wheelchair to fold, built-in or removable arm rests, swing-away footrests, a mid to high-level back, and push handles to allow someone other than the user to propel the Wheelchair. Standard manual wheelchairs consist of two large rear wheels that are usually 20"-26" with push rims and two small wheels in the front, also known as casters. These chairs typically weigh about 35 lbs.
